Abstract: | This present study examined the effects of personality on driving behaviours, with illusion of control as a mediator in Thailand. Overall, there were three hypotheses: 1) People who are more sensitive to reward are more likely to engage in risky driving behaviours. 2) People who are more sensitive to punishment are less likely to engage in risky driving behaviours. 3a) Effects of reward sensitivity on driving behaviours will be mediated by illusion of control. 3b) Effects of punishment and driving behaviours will be mediated by illusion of control. A total of 75 participants participated in the study by voluntarily completing an online questionnaire made available through social platforms. The collected data was analysed by using the IBM SPSS statistical software. In conclusion, the present findings are inconsistent with the previous literature. Thus, none of the stated hypotheses have been supported. |
