| dc.description.abstract | สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษากลวิธีการแปลมุกตลกไทยในบทพูด เพื่อทำเป็นบทบรรยายภาษาอังกฤษ โดยศึกษาจากจากภาพยนตร์เรื่อง พี่มาก...พระโขนง/ Pee Mak โดยมีสมมติฐานว่าการแปลมุกตลกของภาพยนตร์เรื่อง พี่มาก...พระโขนง ในบทบรรยายภาษาไทยเพื่อทำเป็นบทบรรยาย ภาษาอังกฤษนั้น ผู้แปลต้องเข้าใจองค์ประกอบที่ใช้ในการนำเสนอความตลกโดยอ้างอิงจากทฤษฎีความไม่เข้ากันของ เจมส์ บีทที (1809) โจเอล เชอร์เซอร์ (1985) และ คริสโตเฟอร์ วิลสัน (1979) ประกอบกับรายงานการวิจัยการนำเสนอความตลกที่รวบรวมโดย นารีรัตน์ บุญช่วย รวมถึงการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบในการสื่อความหมายแบบมัลติโมดัลของ แครีย์ จูวิทท์ (2009) และ คริสโตเฟอร์ เทย์เลอร์ (2003) จึงจะทำให้บทแปลสามารถคงองค์ประกอบในการสร้างความตลกไว้ได้ จากการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ผู้วิจัยพบว่าสมมติฐานที่ตั้งไว้ ได้รับการยืนยันเพียงบางส่วน กล่าวคือ ในการแปล ผู้แปลจำเป็นต้องมีความรู้พื้นฐานเกี่ยวกับมุกตลกและเข้าใจองค์ประกอบด้านภาพและ เสียงที่ช่วยถ่ายทอดความตลกไปยังผู้ชม อย่างไรก็ตาม ผู้วิจัยได้เพิ่มแนวคิดอื่นเพิ่มเติม เนื่องจากความรู้ที่ได้จากการศึกษาแนวคิดตามสมมติฐานเหมาะสมสำหรับการลงมือแปล แต่ยังไม่ครอบคลุม เรื่องการวิเคราะห์กลวิธีการแปลจากบทแปลของผู้อื่น แนวคิดเพิ่มเติม ได้แก่ การแปลแบบรักษา ความกลมกลืนและรักษาความแปลกต่างตามแนวคิดของเวนุติ (1995 และ 1998) และแนวทางการแก้ปัญหาในการแปลมุกตลกในบทพูดของดาเลีย จิอาโร (2006) ที่ได้นำมาใช้เป็นแนวทางในการ วิเคราะห์บทแปลของนักแปลโดยละเอียด ซึ่งผู้วิจัยพบว่ากลวิธีการแปลที่ผู้แปลใช้ คือ การแปลแบบรักษาความกลมกลืน การแปลแบบรักษาความแปลกต่าง การใช้กลวิธีการแปลบทพูดมุกตลกของจิ อาโร และการผสมผสานกลวิธีการแปลระหว่างการแปลแบบรักษาความกลมกลืนและการแปลแบบรักษาความแปลกต่าง ตามลำดับ โดยผู้แปลยืนยันว่าการจะทำให้บทแปลคงความตลกไว้ได้ ผู้แปล ต้องตระหนักว่าผู้ชมปลายทางจะสามารถเชื่อมโยงบทแปลให้เข้ากับความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมในภาพยนตร์ได้หรือไม่ | en_US |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | This special research aims to study verbal humour translation methods used in the translation of Thai subtitles in a Thai movie, Pee Mak, into English. The initial hypothesis of the study is that to translate humour for subtitling purposes the translator needs to understand all the elements used for presenting humour, such as the incongruity theory of James Beattie (1809), Joel Scherzer (1985) and Christopher Wilson (1979). In addition, the research is also based on the humour presenting methods as proposed by Nareerat Boonchuay, and multimodality as proposed by Carey Jewitt (2009) and Chistopher Taylor (2003). In this research study, it is found that the hypothesis is partially confirmed. The translator needs to have basic knowledge about humour and understand the audiovisual components which help to convey humour. However, the researcher applied additional approaches because what was mentioned in the hypothesis can only apply to the process of translation, but not to the analysis of translation methods. The additional approaches are domestication and foreignization by Venuti (1995 and 1998), and solutions to verbal humour translation as proposed by Chiaro (2006). These approaches were used for analyzing translation methods more thoroughly. It is found that the translator uses domestication, foreignization, translation methods for verbally expressed humour by Chiaro, and the integration between domestication and foreignization successively. The translator insists that to maintain humour in the translated text, a translator must always consider whether the target audience can relate the translated text to the cultural differences in the movie. | en_US |
